A discussion on PR Sarkar’s Economic Theory in relevance to present economic systems was held-3rd May, 2019 at the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR), Mumbai.
Speaking on the subject, the contemporary relevance of economic ideas of PR Sarkar, Dr. Dolly Sunny, Professor and Director, presented the Prout philosophy. Parallely, she described the salient features of Prout and indicated she was very much fascinated with the humanitarian side of PR Sarkar’s Prout philosophy.
Ac. Divyachetananda Avt.  compared the contemporary evolution of economic philosophies – such as Theory of Utility, the Concept of Social Utility on which the Possibility Theory is based. He further explained the concepts given by Michael Todaro some 60 years back and co-related these with the symbiotic viewpoint of Prout.
Rajesh Singh  illustrated  the pitfalls of present-day economic systems which divided the society into haves and have nots.. He elaborated  Proutistic concepts of non-accumulation of wealth and .how this co-relates well with the Oxfam report and is vindicated in its findings. He also stressed how both communism and capitalism both disregard  humanity- something which Prout hinges on.
