Extensive development and support of farmers’ associations and federation that includes tools, machinery, facilities, seed and trainings.
(When one clicks for details): setting up and registration of 35 farmer associations and 2 farmer federations, introduced centralized cooperative farming in 32 villages, initiated a 4-hectare fruit orchard involving the participation of 42 farmer associations and federations, and launched a 98-hectare afforestation program in collaboration with the national Department of Environment and Natural Resources and several local high schools. Distribution of basic farm tools and vegetable seeds to farmers has been done. To support income generation, farmer associations were given farm machines, seeds of fruit trees and forage grass for livestock, and organic fertilizer (chicken dung). Demo farms were built for them, complete with nurseries, composting, vermiculture, machinery, storage, goat multiplier and training facilities. Through the farmer associations and federations trainings on organic farming, nursery management, land preparation, plant care, pest control, post-harvest management, environment, and food processing were conducted. To stimulate local food processing, the province’s first food factory built to prescribed hygienic standards and installed with solar driers for pre-processing food crops was constructed. A municipal feed mill center was built to enable locals to produce their own feeds. Transport facilities were also provided to help farmers bring their produce to nearby markets, and the heavily damaged central market building was rehabilitated.
